Born and raised in Union County, New Jersey, I have lived in nearby Montclair, New Jersey since 1980. Married to Shelby Swayze, we have three lovely, smart grown children, all living on their own (in Philadelphia, Maryland and Virginia).
If you know me professionally, you know that I’ve been employed by the Union County Division of Social Services for a long time. In the past I was known as Mr. Home Energy having served as the local Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Coordinator. For the past several years I have coordinated the TANF component of the Work First New Jersey program, helping welfare families secure employment and training through a network of schools, nonprofits, and the workforce development community.
Beginning my days as a college radical – head of the Vietnam Moratorium Committee (10/15/69 nationwide anti-war protest) at Essex County College – I remain active in the area of low income energy assistance, serving on the board of New Jersey SHARES the statewide energy nonprofit and as a member of the National Fuel Funds Network . When I’m not listening to music or drinking a good pint of ale you might catch me on my Facebook page or updating the New Jersey Community Resources website.
